About

Steve has been the lead pastor @ Calvary Christian Assembly since 2007. Before that, he and his wife, Karen, served in Hamburg, Germany (one of the more beautiful cities in the world) for 18 years. The experience of living in Europe left an indelible mark on Steve’s understanding of ministry in an urban setting.

Steve holds a B.A. in Biblical Literature from Northwest University in Kirkland and an M.A. in Theology from Fuller Seminary. He is also only one course away from doing his comprehensive exams for a Doctorate of Missiology from Biola University. Currently, however, the doctoral studies are on hold.

  1. Pastor Steve, I am happy to hear that you are at Calvary; I used to faithfully pray using the Mountain Mover missions magazine and so remember you and Karen. I have a co-worker/friend who was raised mostly in Germany. He is about 40 and is/was? an atheist. A few of us are praying for him. He is a very rational man; a very kind man. But, as you stated somewhere about ministering to people in Hamburg – he is just not very interested. Maybe a Pastor from Hamburg might pique his interest… God Bless.

PS. I attend the Church at Maltby Christian Assembly; Pastor David Brakke; a great church also.

  2. Just a note to let you know that today’s sermon (08/22/2010)was inspiring, Pastor Steve. Great job.

  3. Pastor Steve, Sorry I did not respond sooner, about you not wearing a tie this past Sunday, it is a great concept and I support you 100%. Keep up the great leadership.

  4. Visited your chruch for the first time. I have seen it from the freeway for many years and did not know who was even in the building. I set out from home with my 5 year-old grandson in the van and enjoyed your service and barbecue afterwards. I was raised Pentecostal, in my adult life worshipped among the Quakers and then for the last 15 year or so among the Episcopal church but could never bring myself to quite believe like them. One thing I did love and probalby kept me there was the beautiful organ music and the singing of the hymns. Now I am trying to find a church and hope you get an organist soon and continue somewhat in the hymns. I have a i-pod with 1721 Christian songs on it; with only 255 being the hymns, My daughter attends a Four-Square church and they leave the hymns out, feels to much like Hollywood for me. Your people around me gave me a warm welcome and I may return, I like what I saw and felt.

    Steve
